Murdered: Soul Suspect is an adventure mystery stealth video game developed by Airtight Games and published in 2014 by Square Enix for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Short summary describing this game.
Concepts
- Achievements Achievements are extra challenges added into video games that sometimes carry a point value or unlock bonus material, and are sometimes solely for bragging rights.
- Auto-Save The game automatically saves for you when you reach certain points. Implemented in order to reduce frustration for forgetful savers.
- Baldness Many males, and some females, experience pattern baldness, a gradual loss of hair.
- Been Here Before When the player character (re)visits a certain area or location that was also present in a previous game, or visited later on in the same game, with some alterations.
- Bink Video A proprietary video codec (.bik/bk2 extension) developed by RAD Game Tools and used in a very large number of video games.
- Birds Winged, usually flying creatures, many of which enjoy perching on branches and defecating on unfortunate victims below.
- Blood Necessary to sustain life in organic creatures, the crimson fluid known as blood tends to make appearances when the body's structure is compromised in some way, a very, very common occurrence in videogames.
- Box Art Features Character Facing Away On some box art, the main character is facing away.
- Car Accident Games that feature car accidents as important story points or dramatic events. This concept does not refer to car accidents that can occur as an incidental result of gameplay, such as in racing games.
- Cats Feline animals commonly kept as pets. There are many different breeds and varieties.
- Chase When the protagonist is pursuing someone or something in an effort to kill or capture.
- Checkpoint A point within the game whereby the game saves its current state whether it be for the purpose of a more convenient respawn point or a gameplay design (such as in racing).
- Chef A professional cook. Chefs are often overworked and very sensitive about their cuisine.
- Climbing Climbing is a common tradition in games, particularly platformers. There is often a particular type of surface that can be climbed, and it has a recognizably different look than other surfaces in the game. Climbing ladders or stairs doesn't count.
- Closing the Eyes of Dead People Games with characters who close the eyelids of dead characters, often used to indicate respect for the deceased.
- Collectible Collectibles are items such as coins, rings, gems, packages etc. that can be gathered, usually for some kind of reward, or sometimes to simply beat a level. Often (almost too often) the source of earning achievements and trophies on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
- Color Separation A visual effect where color channels are deliberately misaligned.
- Context Sensitive An action that is sensitive to context. Like going up to an object and pushing a button, which would normally perform a different action, to interact with it.
- Countdown Timer The ultimate pressure feature. Players have to complete the task at hand, be it defeating opponents or cutting the right wire, in the allotted time.
- Crepuscular Rays An optical effect formed by beams of light contrasting against areas of shadow in the atmosphere. They are often simulated in video games through volumetric lighting.
- Crying When characters shed tears - often due to extreme sadness.
- Cutscene A non-interactive sequence within a game most often used for plot advancement.
- Dead End A dead end is when a path or road is blocked off, whether intentionally or accidently, and players are forced to turn around.
- Defenestration The act of throwing someone or something out of a window. The etymology of this Latin word combines de-(down) and fenestra (window).
- Descendants of Other Characters It's all in the family.
- Detective Someone who investigates unsolved crimes and other mysterious happenings, either for a living, as a hobby, or simply by chance.
- Dialogue Tree Dialogue trees are a feature through which the player selects responses from a list of choices, eliciting reactions from NPCs and determining the path of the conversation and story.
- Digital Distribution The concept of purchasing media and having it delivered over the internet. No physical representation of this content is given, and although the content resides on the user's hard drive they are typically granted a license to the product, rather than ownership of it.
- Dolby Digital Dolby Digital is an audio compression technology codec first used in movie theaters. It's now commonly used in many modern day audio/video media formats, including video games.
- Double Entendre in Game Names Games whose titles are meant to be taken more than one way.
